We will also have Coffee Cart on Friday, May 6th.
Please feel free to organize activities throughout the week with your classes.  These can include, having kids bring a note or flower to the teacher on specified dates, or even a class gift.  Your ideas are welcome!
That week will also be "Spirit Week" to make things even more fun and festive.  Please remind your parents of this as well so their students can join in on the daily fun!

Important Information: On Thursday, April 21, 2016, the PTA has voted to dissolved the Ken Culbert PTA and change over to Ken Culbet PTO. You will begin seeing changes as early as the end of May. For the most part, you won’t see much of a difference at all in how our group operates and what we do for the school.  We’ll still focus on trying to make KEN CULBERT a great community for our kids, teachers and families.
There will be some behind the-scenes/technical changes, but we’ll take care of those at the Board level – nothing for you to worry about there.

Our biggest reasons for the change are:

1.   No Dues.  As a PTA, we have to charge dues for KEN CULBERT families to be members, where as a PTO we do not. We believe that all KEN CULBERT parents and staff members should automatically be members of parent group and are looking forward to this change.

2.   Independence. We really haven’t used many/any of the services offered by the PTA for many years now and feel like we can do just as well as we have been doing (or even better) as a PTO.  PTOs are independent, and we can set policies and procedures that work specifically for our school. We’ve found good alternatives for the few PTA resources that we have been taking advantage of.

3.   No politics. While we don’t talk about it much here at school, the PTA is actually pretty active as a lobbying organization. We don’t have any particular problem with the positions the PTA lobbies for, but we’ve found that focusing on serving our school and building community (and staying away from politics) is more what we’re looking for here at KEN CULBERT.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of our Board members anytime.

Thanks for staying involved!

We are currently looking for volunteers for the following positions for 2016-2017 school year:

         • Bingo Chair
            • Math Club Coordinator
         • Book Fair Coordinator
