A Parent’s Guide to Music at
Sycolin Creek Elementary
This year, students at Sycolin Creek have music once a week for 50 minutes. During that time, they sing, play instruments, dance and much more! All students will have the opportunity to participate in a Veterans Day presentation and the Holiday Sing-a-long. Fourth and fifth grade students will play recorder. For more information, read on or click the Schoology link within your Phoenix account.Our Music TeamMrs. CassadaMrs. Cassada is excited about starting another great year at Sycolin Creek Elementary. She will be teaching grades K through 5. Mrs. Cassada earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Bassoon at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her Master of Music in Bassoon and Contrabassoon at Duquesne University. She has studied Music Education at Shenandoah University and has her Level I Certification in Orff and World Music Drumming. As a professional bassoonist and contrabassoonist, she has performed with the National Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Roanoke Symphony, Bassoonapalooza and many others. These elements are taught during music lessons through singing, playing, moving and improvising. Students learn to read and write musical notation. Listening, describing and analyzing are also important skills. All skills are taught in a planned, sequential order to maximize each child's success.

Chorus and Sycolin's Got Beat!
Students in fourth and fifth grade are eligible to join the Sycolin Creek Singers and Sycolin's Got Beat. Sycolin Creek Singers will meet on Wednesdays after school and Sycolin's Got Beat will meet on Tuesdays after school. More information will be coming soon!
Grades
