Mrs. Stephens began her career as a special education teacher in Hampton, Virginia. She later taught gifted and talented math and science for grades three through five in Alexandria, Virginia. Mrs. Stephens also taught kindergarten, first, third, fourth and fifth grades, and a K-1 multiage class before becoming a Teacher Evaluation Specialist with Alexandria City Public Schools.
In 2004 she became Assistant Principal of Jefferson Houston Elementary School in Alexandria. Mrs. Stephens and her family relocated to Loudoun County in 2006. She served as Assistant Principal of Catoctin Elementary School for three years before becoming principal of Seldens Landing Elementary School.
Mrs. Stephens holds a bachelor's degree in History, Geography, and Political Science and Secondary Education from Georgian Court (College) University. She earned National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Specialist and holds a master's degree in Professional Studies in Education from George Mason University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Education Leadership and Administration from George Washington University. Mrs. Stephens is currently working toward a Ph. D. in Teacher Education and Policy Studies at George Mason University.
Mrs. Stephens and her family reside in Loudoun County. She and her husband have two sons, Jake and Ben, and a daughter, Chelsea.
