Lovettsville Elementary School PTO
Welcome to a new year at Lovettsville Elementary School! Your Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has been busy over the summer planning a year full of fun family events.
I know it may seem like you are bombarded with fundraising and paperwork as we begin the year. As the parent of an elementary school child and a middle school student, I completely understand how overwhelming this can seem. You may not realize how many of the fabulous things that happen throughout the school year are funded by the PTO through fundraisers. The PTO provides a stipend for the teachers every year to supplement their classroom needs. It also funds exciting new endeavors, such as Reflex Math, the brand new computer software for school and home. Small things are also the responsibility of the PTO: helping fund field trips and school musicals, paying for postage so Flat Stanley can travel the world in first grade, purchasing butterfly kits to enable a hands-on life cycle lesson, and even new classroom rugs. Our large project last year was the design and installation of a brand new playground. The list goes on and on! We try to pick out fundraisers and events that will appeal to a wide variety of people. Never feel like you have to participate in everything. Please choose what is right for your family.
The goal of the PTO is to bring teachers and families together. Sometimes the best gift you can give isn’t money, but your time. We are so lucky to have such a talented and knowledgeable parent population. If everyone would be willing to volunteer at just one event this year, we could accomplish amazing things! The PTO board is here to serve you and our school. We do it because we love this place and believe in giving our children the best education and the most opportunities possible, but it takes more than the board of officers to make a PTO! We need your help. Please come to one of our meetings, just to hear what’s going on. I’d love to have your input and ideas. I look forward to seeing you soon!
