Dear Parents and Guardians,

The PTO would like to welcome all new and returning families to Lovettsville Elementary School!  We hope everyone had a safe, fun and relaxing summer!

The PTO is an organization of teachers and parents of LES.  The PTO’s goal is to help build a better educational environment for our children.  We also promote a school community where teachers and administrators can do their best work with the resources we can provide.  Through membership dues, donations and fundraising efforts, the PTO is able to donate funds to purchase educational materials – computer-based learning programs/hardware, field trips, music programs, for example - and equipment for the school – such as 30 new computers - as well as being involved in efforts to help the local community.

We hope you will join the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) at LES.  The PTO represents a special relationship – one that acts as a bridge between two of your child’s important worlds: home and school.  It definitely benefits from the participation of the school parents.  The most important thing we can do as a PTO is increase parent involvement as that is the number one way to create a terrific school and improve student performance.   We also, therefore, host family events for little to no cost, such as the Have a Heart Party (family party near Valentine’s Day), Donuts with Dad, Munchies with Mom and Family Reading Night (families listen to books about various subjects of their choosing).  New this year will be a Family Movie Night!

We offer many ways for you to be involved.  Volunteering doesn't have to mean a huge time commitment.  Whatever your time schedule and interests we have need of you and your talents.  We have tasks that can be performed in the evenings, during the day, or that don't even involve coming to the school at all.  Please visit our volunteer bulletin board at the front of the school to see ways you can become more involved in your child’s school.  Find us on Facebook too!

On behalf of the LES PTO, we would once again like to extend a warm welcome and best wishes for a successful school year!  Please contact any of us with questions or comments.  I look forward to seeing you in the upcoming school year.
