Technology integration provides exciting learning opportunities
for our students and teachers.
Each classroom contains 4 Dell Optiplex 780 workstations as well as an HP 6940 Deskjet Printer. One workstation is configured for AV use and includes a DVD player, CD burner and connection to a television for large screen display. All 4th and 5th grade classrooms and several other rooms have an installed Promethean board.
Our Computer Lab contains 30 Dell Optiplex 780 Workstations, an HP LaserJet 4200 black printer, an HP Color LaserJet Printer, and two Scanners. Teachers and students are also able to utilize the Promethean board and Computer Workstation in the lab. We also have 8 Intel QX5 Digital Microscopes, and digital cameras, and video cameras. Our school has Promethean Boards and document cameras in all 4th and 5th grade classrooms and we also have 3 mobile boards that all grades share.
Other rooms will be getting the boards this summer.
We have 2 carts of 11 laptop computers that all grades share as well.
Students at Tolbert have access to a full complement of productivity tools including Microsoft Office, Timeliner; ToolFactory Database; and Inspiration as well as ReadPlease, Internet Explorer; Pixie, Tenth Planet Reading, Neighborhood MapMachine, Google SketchUp, and Jing. We also have additional software for practicing economics skills along with math with Hot Dog Stand, Ice Cream Truck, and Toy Store software.
Students also use Accelerated Reader, Type to Learn, and SuccessMaker Enterprise.
In addition, the Tolbert network contains additional software for Music, Science, Language Arts, Math and Social Science as well as subscriptions to research sites.
Teacher Utility Workstations contain additional software for teacher use including Adobe Acrobat, FrontPage, SnagIt and WinZip.
The technology resource teacher provides school-based professional development for teachers including application training, research-based integration sessions, study groups, and other training opportunities.
