Meet Mrs. Spurlock Greetings Gators! I am excited to serve as your assistant principal here at Guilford Elementary School! There are so many wonderful things about Guilford's diverse school community.
This year marks my twentieth year as an educator. My career in education began in Chesterfield County Public Schools where I taught junior kindergarten, kindergarten, and fifth grades. After ten years of experience there, I worked two years as a fifth grade teacher in Prince George County, VA. I returned to Chesterfield County Public Schools and was fortunate to share several leadership experiences outside the classroom to include the following: two years as summer school principal, two years as a Beginning Teacher Advisor, and one year as a Communities In Schools (CIS) Site Coordinator. I also had quite a unique opportunity in serving one year as assistant principal in Petersburg City Public Schools at the elementary school I attended as a student!
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Virginia State University; Master of Arts in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) from Central Michigan University; and a Post-Master’s Endorsement in Educational Leadership: Administration and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, a pastor in the Sterling Community, and children who are students in LCPS.
I am eagerly anticipating working with all students, parents, teachers, and the community to ensure a positive and productive year of learning for all. I believe that as we work together, we will make this a successful year of teaching and learning at Guilford Elementary School!
