WELCOME
Forest Grove Elementary PTA
2012-2013
PTA meeting
Thursday, April 25th, 6:30 pm.
Board nominations will be made at the meeting. All school parents are encouraged to attend and volunteer for the positions of president, treasurer, vice-president special events, vice president fundraising, and secretary.
Calling all dads, granddads, uncles, step-dads and adult brothers! The WATCH D.O.G. program is underway at Forest Grove. Several dads have had a blast so far volunteering to participate at the school. Don't miss this opportunity to spend the day with your children and help out in the classrooms and playground. Please contact Doug Hays, PTA President/Top Dog at president@fgepta.org to find out more about this enriching program. The school clinic is very low on underwear, especially smaller sizes for both boys and girls. The clinic could also use donations of coats, especially boys (all sizes) and tissues! These items are distributed to all of the specialists and Sharon Rukes who don't have classroom students bringing them from home.
School St. Patrick's Day Dance March 15
The school and PTA are hosting a St. Patrick's Day school dance on Friday, March 15th, for students and their parents. Please mark your calendars for this special event! More information to follow. Sign up to volunteer for PTA events here!

The PTA has posted a few internet safety sites for Parents on how to protect your Children online.
Click on PTA Links Button on the left and review the links.
If you would like a copy of the presentation Parents can also contact Deputy Spurlock (Special Operations Division) at
james.spurlock@loudoun.gov and also a PTA Board member at
info@FGEPTA.org if you have questions and/or suggestions for keeping our Children safe online.
Click on the link below to read/print some of the presenation given by Deputy Spurlock.
Internet Safety is a common topic of discussion for today’s parents and in some cases can be a source of anxiety. With technology moving ahead at such a rapid pace, it can be hard for parents to keep up let alone catch up. .
PTA SUGGESTION BOX
The PTA has a suggestion box! It is in the office where you sign your child in/out for school OR if you are volunteering for your child's class or any other activity at school the box is there. Your PTA wants to hear from you.
Your suggestions and inventiveness make Forest Grove Elementary PTA a success. If you have ideas about how the Forest Grove Elementary PTA could make our school an even better place to be please complete a suggestion card and place in the PTA Suggestion Box in the Front Office. Every event that the PTA does, every action that it takes, is the result of someone making the suggestion: “Why doesn’t the PTA do ...” Our school is blessed with many individuals who give generously of their time. Your suggestions on how to strengthen our community are always greatly appreciated.
As a not-for-profit organization, PTA® looks to you—our members and friends—to provide that "extra measure" of support to advance its mission. For those who are committed to PTA through membership, service, and giving, we are deeply grateful and appreciative for your support.
Without you, there is no PTA. The PTA raises about $60 for each of the over 585 students at FGE each year. This is to provide free books, agendas and folders, buttons for students, the DARE program, and water during SOLs to name a few. Furthermore, the PTA pays for assemblies, special programs, etc. We also manage projects (staffing book fairs), and plan fun events such as the Halloween Walk, Spirit Nights at local restaurants, and the Variety Show.
You can support the PTA in many ways. Here are some: - Become a member of the PTA by filling out a PTA membership form at just $6 a member.
- Make a tax-deductible donation to the FGE PTA.
- Come to our meetings at 7PM in the gym, usually on the last Monday of the month. You can just come and listen - we promise!
- Lead or help with one of the many PTA teams that support our school. For our current needs, visit our Volunteer page.
- Participate in our fundraisers, several of which don’t cost you a dime (such as collecting and sending in your Box Tops or registering your frequent shopper grocery card.)
- Whether you have two hours a week or two hours a month, consider how you can help the school by volunteering your time. Being part of the PTA is a great way to meet and work with other parents, to get to know the school’s teachers and administration, and to find out what issues are going on at our school and in the county.
