 Mr. Robert Marple

Mr. Marple is excited to begin his second full year working with the Cedar Lane School Community and looks forward to meeting and working with the student body, staff members, and school community.   Mr. Marple is beginning his nineteenth year in Loudoun County Public Schools, a journey that has been filled with great experiences, wonderful friendships, and a steadfast commitment to excellence.  With a passion focused on providing an excellent experience and high quality instruction to each member of the Cedar Lane student body, Mr. Marple looks forward to continuing the many wonderful and rich traditions that are already in place, and along the journey, cultivating some new traditions and experiences for all members of the school community.  Together, collectively, we will do great things!

Mr. Marple received his undergraduate degree in Physical Education from Shepherd University and his Master degree from Shenandoah University in School Leadership and Administration.  He is currently working on his doctoral dissertation in the School Leadership and Administration Doctoral Program at Shenandoah University.

Mr. Marple began his career in Loudoun County as an elementary physical education teacher and a high school basketball coach at Loudoun County High School.  Prior to his principalship at Cedar Lane, Mr. Marple served as the principal of Hamilton Elementary, an assistant principal at Park View High School, Evergreen Mill Elementary School, and Lowes Island Elementary School and as a middle school dean at Farmwell Station Middle School.  Mr. Marple became principal of Cedar Lane Elementary on February 19, 2013.

As Mr. Marple begins his first year as principal at Cedar Lane Elementary, he will work to continue to cultivate a culture of excellence that is already in place and work toward achieving greatness at the Community School.  Mr. Marple looks forward to continuing to serve the students, staff, and community of Cedar Lane Elementary and working to continue the rich traditions that have been established.

"We have the potential to move from being a really good school to a great school, but with this potential comes a great burden.  We need to, collectively as a school community, seek excellence in all we do and work to establish structures that will allow us to make the leap and with fidelity make certain we maintain a laser focus on meeting the needs of each student.  In my short time here at Cedar Lane it is very obvious that this is a school that benefits from strong previous leadership, talented and dedicated staff members, and a supportive parent community.”, Mr. Marple.

Mr. Marple looks forward to this journey and he encourages the entire Cedar Lane School Community to join him.
