BWHS Scheduling Program for 2015-2016

It’s hard to believe it, but it is already time to plan for the 2015-2016 school year!  At BWHS we have developed a comprehensive scheduling program that helps students and parents make the best course choices possible.  Below is a detailed timeline for our scheduling program – dates are subject to change.

February 2: 6:00pm start time for current BWHS parents, 6:45pm start time for current 8th grade parents

Scheduling Information Night for Parents
Counselors will provide information regarding graduation requirements, courses for next year, and the course selection process.  Department chairs and teachers will be available to answer your questions about specific courses.

Week of February 2
Classroom Scheduling Information Sessions
Teachers will discuss their department’s course options for next year with students in their current classes.

Ongoing through February 4

Teachers’ Course Recommendations
English, math, science, and social science teachers will submit course recommendations for their students to the School Counseling Department.

February 4 & 5

Scheduling Presentations for Current Freshmen
Counselors will facilitate study hall presentations to review graduation requirements, courses for next year, and the course selection process.  Presentation can be found here.

Week of February 9

Scheduling Video Presentations for Current Sophomores and Juniors
Students will view counselor-produced videos that will review graduation requirements, courses for next year, and the course selection process.  Presentation for current sophomores here.  Presentation for current juniors here.

February 6 – March 10

Individual Student/Counselor Scheduling Conferences
Counselors will facilitate individual conferences with students to select their courses.  Students will review their core teachers’ recommendations and make changes as necessary.  Students will receive a copy of their requests for parent review.

 March 12:  NOVA testing at Briar Woods for student applying to NOVA Dual Enrollment classes at the Monroe Technology Center

March 13: Deadline for the ROTC program at Loudoun County High School (see Program of Studies for details)

March 20:  Monroe Technology Center Applications due to the BWHS School Counseling Office (for any current sophomore or junior interested in MTC programs).

April:  A copy of the Course Selection Form will be sent home for final parent approval.

June 19:  Deadline to change student course requests for 2015-2016.  We cannot make changes to course requests after this date.


Middle School Scheduling Events for Current 8th Grade Students:

February 10 & 11:     BWHS Counselor visit to Eagle Ridge.  Presentation here.

March, date TBA:       BWHS Counselor visit to Stone Hill Middle School.

March 27:                   Rising Freshman Activity EXPO
