Duane Minnick - Fine Arts Chair/ Director of Bands 

        The Fine Arts Department of Briar Woods High School strives to build a creative and dynamic student who is comfortable demonstrating creative talent, superior performance and expressive problem solving solutions. Academically, the faculty of the Fine Arts department will provide a solid core of the elements and principles of art disciplines, music and dramatic performance techniques that hold the students to high standards of achievement. The faculty in the art disciplines, music, art and drama, seek to encourage students to reach beyond their current abilities to develop their skills and thoughtful interpretations.

   A structured environment will be created for students to identify and solve artistic challenges with knowledge, creativity and technical skill. Students will develop the discipline that is required to persevere in order to reach their goals. Students will be given a strong foundation to communicate and express themselves in the Performing and Visual Arts.

   The Briar Woods fine arts faculty encourages the state curriculum for the arts in the creative development of the whole student.
