My name is Nancy Melendez and it is a privilege for me to be the Parent Liaison here at Sterling Middle School. This is my first year as Parent Liaison and I am excited to get to know the student and parents.
I was born in Los Angeles, California, but my mother is from El Salvador and father from Mexico. I am currently attending George Mason University for Information System Operation Management and I am expecting to graduate spring of next year. I am emphatic and understanding to parents needs and I would like to reach out as much as I can to make your family feel welcomed, informed, and taken care of in a positive and warm way. I enjoy building long lasting relationships with students and their families. When parents and schools work together, there is a bigger chance for the students to succeed academically. I find this job to be very fulfilling and hopefully I can serve you in a positive way.
My main role is to bridge the gap between home and school. If I can help you in any way to facilitate school-home communication, connect your family with community resources, or help you in any way with school transitions, please let me know. My hours are Monday 9AM-12PM, Tuesday through Thursday 9AM-2PM, and Friday 9AM-1PM. You can contact me via e-mail too at: Nancy.Melendez@lcps.org. If you need a Spanish interpreter, I will be happy to translate for you. However, if you need an interpreter for any other language, I can arrange that for you as well.
