You are all invited to several SRMS events that will be taking place in August and September:
Ø The annual SRMS Picnic on Sunday, August 25th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The picnic is a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to meet with some of the SRMS faculty members and for students to get their locker combinations and schedules and a chance to tour the school.
Ø 7th and 8th grade Thunder Day on August 28th from 12:30 to 3:00 pm and 6th grade Thunder Day on August 29th from 12:30 to 3:00 pm. Thunder Day is a time for students to run through their schedules, practice opening their lockers and meet their teachers.
Ø Back To School Night on September 25th starting at 6:30.
A few important reminders to help make our opening as smooth as possible:
Ø All students entering Seneca Ridge on September 3rd are required by law to have a Tdap booster. This generally applies to sixth graders as returning seventh and eighth grade students should already have a Tdap. If your child has had this immunization, and you have not sent in the documentation please bring it into the school before September 3rd. Your child will not be able to start school if we do not have documentation of this in the clinic. Please refer to our website under “clinic notes” or contact the school if you have any questions.
Ø The school supply list by grade/subject is included in this issue of the newsletter. Help your student to be prepared by reminding them they should arrive at all their classes with the appropriate items that are listed.
We urge you to join the SRMS PTO and volunteer for a few of the many projects they have planned. Without parent volunteers many of the activities they plan for our students would not happen. Volunteers are invaluable to us and our PTO helps us organize their efforts.
There is a wealth of useful information about Seneca Ridge in this issue of the newsletter, including briefs from the clinic about forms and policies concerning medications at school, school supplies list, etc.…so please take some time to look it over and learn about your school. We’ll be sending a packet home with each student the first day of school containing various forms and other information. The outside of the packet lists those forms that must be signed and returned to school. Please give us a hand and sign/return those forms with your child the SECOND (September 4) day of school.
Our enrollment is going up again this year which may add to parking lot congestion. A new student pick-up area has been added to the east side of the parking lot adjacent to the baseball field which we feel will alleviate some of the afternoon back-ups and delays. We will publish new procedures for the parking lot prior to school opening.
