Mr. Nick Cottone- Principal
Mr. Cottone attended St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia as an undergraduate majoring in Biology with a minor in English. He continued at St. Joseph’s completing a Master’s in Science degree in 2000 and began teaching adjudicated students in the backcountry of Colorado and Utah at Alternative Youth Adventures. He returned to Philadelphia to work at the Center for Autistic Children as a therapist in an early identification program.
In 2002, he began teaching middle school science at St. Anne’s in Middletown, DE and after three years began teaching 9th Grade Physical Science at William Penn High School in New Castle, DE. In that time, he completed a second Master’s degree in Teaching at Wesley College and an Education Leadership Certification from the University of Delaware.
Mr. Cottone moved to Loudoun in 2009 and worked at Stone Hill Middle School as a Physical Science teacher for 1 year before beginning his administrative career at Mercer in 2010. He remained at Mercer as both a dean and assistant principal until 2017, when he became principal at Seneca Ridge Middle School. His time at Seneca has been such a positive experience because of the true sense of community. Seneca’s rich diversity allows us all to strengthen our empathy and compassion for each other.

Dr. Maria Wakefield- Assistant Principal
Dr. Wakefield grew up all over as an Army brat. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Science and Biology and her Master’s Degree in Teaching from Coastal Carolina University. She earned her Doctoral Degree in K-12 Leadership from Regent University.
Prior to beginning her role at Seneca Ridge, Dr. Wakefield was an instructional facilitator at Guilford Elementary, taught 7th-grade Life Science at Trailside Middle School and Warren County Middle School, and taught various high school sciences at Lancaster High School. Dr. & Mr. Wakefield have three amazing children (Lorelei, Mikaela, and Christian) who always keep them busy and on their toes.

Mrs. O'Nelly Natal- 6th Grade Dean
Mrs. Natal attended Eastern Mennonite University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Psychology. She later completed her degree in Special Education K-12 from Shenandoah University. In 2017, she completed her master's degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from George Mason University. Mrs. Natal's previous experience in education includes Special Education Dean at Potomac Falls High School, Learning Specialist and Department Chair at River Bend Middle School, and Teacher Assistant at J.L. Simpson Middle School.
Mrs. Natal loves spending time with her family. She has two girls (Bianca & Natalie) and a dog who runs the house (Draco). Mrs. Natal enjoys being at the beach or poolside, reading an enjoyable book, watching a movie/tv, traveling, and shopping.

Ms. Tiera Sharpe- 7th Grade Dean
Ms. Sharpe has over a decade of experience in education and has worked in LCPS and FCPS. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Spanish and her Master’s degree in College/Community and School Counseling at Longwood University, in Farmville, VA. In 2017, she completed her Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from Old Dominion University, in Norfolk, VA.
Growing up in Virginia Beach, she naturally has a love for the beach and enjoys traveling to any beach whenever she gets a chance. She lives locally in Loudoun County, and when she’s not at work she enjoys hanging out with friends around the area to attend festivals, and concerts, go out to eat, watch movies/tv, and shop. She absolutely LOVES anything Disney and tries to visit Disney World every chance she can. Her goal is to visit all Disney parks throughout the world! She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and her 2 pups, Salt (Maltese) and Pepper (Yorkie).
She looks forward to working at Seneca Ridge and providing students equitable access and support so they are able to achieve success and reach their goals.

Mr. Casey Davenport- 8th Grade Dean
Mr. Davenport attended Ferrum College where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with a Minor in Teaching. While at Ferrum he was a member of the baseball team as a starting pitcher. He taught in Loudoun County for 10 years before becoming a Dean. Mr. Davenport received his Masters in Education Administration from Shenandoah University This will be his 4th year as a Dean and he is very excited about working with the 6th grade students this year.
Mr. Davenport has been married for 13 years and has 3 beautiful children.

Ms. Tara Daugherty- Special Education Dean
Ms. Daugherty is a Fairfax native, who enjoys spending time with her family. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from James Madison University and then her Master’s Degree in Dietetics also from James Madison. Ms. Daugherty has worked at Seneca Ridge since 2016. She previously served as a special education teacher at Seneca Ridge until 2021. She earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education from George Mason University. She now serves as the Seneca Ridge & River Bend Special Education Dean.
Ms. Daugherty enjoys spending time outdoors running, kayaking, and walking her dogs. She loves getting to watch her daughters compete in taekwondo and softball.
