·         Girls’ Tennis Announcement:  When you win a tiebreaker that means your opponent was tough and you were tougher.  That’s exactly what happened last night in thrilling singles and doubles competition against Dominion.  Maddy Coffman and Rachel Carlson were the stars of the court.  People of Loudoun Valley – when the new courts open up, you will want to see for yourself the thrilling level of play on the beautiful new venue.  You will get your money’s worth.  Stay tuned!

·         April 25th will be the first ever Viking Games.  Two students will be chosen at random from each grade to participate in contests of strength, intelligence, and skill to determine who will become the victor of the 2014 Viking Games.  If you are interested in volunteering as tribute, see Ms. Heiser in room 129.

·         LVHS is Celebrating World Book Night on April 23rd by spreading the love of reading person to person by having a giant book exchange.  We need you to bring a book to share any time between now and the 23rd of April.  We’ll collect books during seminar on April 23rd, which is Shakespeare’s birthday. Then you can pick a book you like during lunch.  There are no strings attached; just straight up giving and receiving.  The grade level seminar with the most books gets donuts on April 25.  Plus 175 random students will be given a golden ticket in seminar to come to a special reception in the cafeteria during seminar that morning.

·         The root of the week is FER, which means “bear”, “bring” or “go” as in the word chauffer.  A chauffer is someone who brings you where you want to go.  Many of you will hire a chauffer to take you to the prom.  To answer your question, yes, you should tip the chauffer.

·         Congratulations to the Vikings Debate team for winning the Regional Championship this weekend hosted at Valley.  Valley’s Public Forum and Lincoln Douglas teams won out over seven other Virginia conference winners.  Congratulations to Madison Remillarrd, Lizzie Manero, Jake Hitchcock, Noah Mussman, Ian Gallagher, Tavish McDonald, and Forrest Cinelli.

·         Just a reminder that tomorrow morning continues the March/April Chess Madness tournament.  We are down to the Elite 8.  The faculty tournament also begins tomorrow morning with Mr. Krepich facing Heir Roos, Mr. Long battling Mr. Gross, Mr. Hagerty will play Mr. Varmecky, and Mrs. Wissler will battle Mrs. Shea in a play-in game for the right to play Mr. Snyder.  Matches start at 8:00 a.m.  Stop by the foyer near the water wheel and check out the action!
