·        Congratulations to the Varsity Volleyball team on their thrilling 3 sets to 2 victory over Champe High School last night.  The Lady Vikes won the first set of the match, and then dropped the next two sets before battling back to win the last two sets in dramatic fashion.  The win earns the Lady Vikes the #2 seed in the upcoming Conference Tournament.  The team would like to thank Mr. Reaves and the Pep band for their support last night.  You all certainly energized the gym!

·        Attention anyone interested in Spanish Club!  Our next meeting will be tomorrow, Friday, the 24th.  Please bring $5 for dues and $15 if you’re interested in buying a t-shirt.  We will see you in 313 this Friday.

Give your work to Ms. Kincaid in 305 if its art. Give it to Ms. Hildbold in 124 if it’s writing.  Also, we can show you how to upload your work on VISION!!  What fun!

·        Hey Juniors – Listen up!  Have you seen the signs around school about VASTS – Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars?  It is a way for juniors to earn up to 4 college credits at no cost by completing an online course consisting of 8 modules and a final project.  In the summer you have the chance to attend a one-week residential Summer Academy at NASA Langley Research center in Hampton Virginia.  Check it out.  For more information to www.spacegrant.org      or see Mrs. Williams in room 111.

·        Peer is asking all students to donate supplies for the West African Fight against Ebola until October 30th.  Collection boxes and posters are in the main foyer and the Mixing Bowl. Some supplies include white rice and latex gloves.  If you have questions, ask MJ Gillis or Mrs. Owens.

·        The Environmental Club announces its second movie night October 23, that’s this Thursday, at 6:00 p.m. in room 208.  The movie “Inconvenient Truth” is an award winning film about the history of carbon dioxide build-up in our atmosphere and the possible global consequences of its greenhouse effect.  A short discussion will follow the film.  See you there!

·        Congratulations to the Viking News Staff for earning the highest level of recognition at last week’s VHSL state and regional championship.  The Viking news magazine earned the trophy level recognition for overall excellence. Individual congratulations go to Elizabeth Sikora, Henry Webster, Leila Francis, Emma Rodriguez and Jennifer Colantonio.  The Viking staff earned first place awards for writing, layout, photography and advertising.  Congratulations Vikes!
