April 11, 2014    Have a safe and fun spring break

-       “B” Day.

-       Teachers and staff, please leave all computes turned on for spring break.  New software will be installed and computers MUST BE LEFT ON.

-       Attention all 6th grade students!  Please go to your History teachers today and pick up your colonial signs, so you can take them home.

-       FYI…The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History’s exhibit, “The National Fossil Hall” will be open through April 27, but will close for renovation through 2019!  Exhibit includes Dinosaurs, Life in the Ancient Seas, Fossil Mammals and fossil Plants.  Take advantage of spring break and take your family and friends!

-       Congratulations to both our 8th grade Jazz Bands!  They were rated “EXCELLENT” by all of the judges at their assessment this past Friday night.  Special congratulations to the following sections and individuals for being selected “BEST” out of all the middle school Jazz Bands at the assessment:   SAXOPHONES, BARITONE SAX Lucas Dial, BEST SOLOISTMat Martwinski and BEST PIANOAemu Anteneh.  Congrats also go to Eric Bowers and Sean Fitzpatrick, for their performances as members of the District Jazz Band!

-       “B” Day.

-       Congratulations to Tucker Lebor, Peter Dunlap and Sofie Sebiaur!  They made the top 10 winners in the You Be The Chemist County Challenge, out of 5 middle schools and 60 students.  An extra special congrats to Sofie, for being the 2nd place winner and who will be going to the State Challenge on April 26.  Good luck!

-       LIBRARY NEWS!!!  BIG change is coming this weekend, when accessing Simpson’s MacinVia site (your Simpson eBook collection and backpack).  Students and staff will not be able to access eBooks or backpacks until next week.  Information on how to access eBook collection/backpack and new changes will be given during Tuesday’s morning announcements; it will also be available on Simpson’s webpage.

-       “A” Day.

-       8th graders applying to CAMPUS, applications are due to Mrs. Jeane TODAY!

-       Mrs. Wilfong’s 7th grade students – your field trip to the Museum of American History is TOMORROW; you only need to bring your coat and a packed lunch.  Report to 5th block for attendance and announcements, and then meet Mrs. Wilfong in the auditorium.

-       Attn:  7th grade FACS students—this is a reminder about your Home laundry project.  It is due Thursday March 20th for A day and Friday, March 21st for B day.  Get started early and bring it in next week before the due date.

-       SCA Canned Food Drive has started and will end March 28.  Donations will go to Loudoun Interfaith.  Please drop off canned goods to your History/Civics teacher.  No supersized cans or jars.  REMEMBER ONE canned good MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
