2013 Summer Assignments Please Join the Math Department in Congratulating the Following Students for being selected as the 2012-2013 Outstanding Mathematics Students! Alexis Jacuzzi Alexis Jacuzzi has worked to the best of her ability this year in Algebra 2. She asks questions until she understands concepts fully, and always attends the extra help review sessions. She strives to achieve the best possible grades and always goes the extra mile. She is a joy to have in class and we feel lucky to have had the chance to teach her. -Mrs. Helbing & Mr. Dugger Brennan Wright The award for academic achievement in Math Analysis goes to Brennan Wright. In December, Brennan suffered a severe concussion. He was absent from school for 12 days and upon his return, he was not able to concentrate for a full class period. His recovery lasted for more than a month. Despite the massive amount of makeup material and missed instructional time, he has maintained the highest GPA in Analysis. This achievement reflects Brennan’s intellectual ability and his strength of character. -Mrs. Eastham Alayna Bigalbal I have had the pleasure of getting to know Alayna during the last year. She is currently a student in my Advanced Placement Calculus AB course. Alayna is an excellent student. She has a true love of learning and continually aims for mastery. She has excellent problem solving skills and enjoys the challenge of using known skills to solve non-routine problems. Alayna is wonderful to have in class. She is an active learner and often participates in class. She enjoys working with other students and is quite helpful with the weaker students. In addition to Alayna’s wonderful academic qualities, she is one of the nicest young ladies I have had the pleasure to know. She is kind and friendly to everyone and is well liked. -Mrs. Segerdahl Alex Jensen If you were designing the perfect math student, you could use Alex Jensen as a model. He always comes to class with a positive attitude and ready to learn. He is able to consistently maintain an A+ average, and to his credit, most of the class is unaware of his success. He never takes shortcuts, and as a result the work he turns in is always organized, thorough and flawless. Alex is a Trifecta: great attitude, great math mind, and great work ethic. -Mrs. Roeser Rachel Jacuzzi Rachel has been a wonderful addition to our Algebra 1 class. She is always prepared and displays amazing work habits. Rachel has been an integral part of our student tutoring program and has developed into a wonderful tutor. Her hard work and dedication is appreciated. We wish her all the best in her future math career. -Mrs. Sharpe & Mrs. Asem Madeline Fowler Maddie is model student. Behaviorally she is pleasant and polite to her teacher and classmates. With a positive attitude she, took charge and diligently completed the assigned tasks in both Probability & Statistics and Discrete Mathematics. She pays attention to detail and makes sure she comprehends the concepts so she can help her classmates. She has also been a wonderful assistance to students who were absent. Maddie does what is necessary to excel; and it has been a pleasure to teaching her. -Ms. Bridges Cody James Cody James has exemplified what it means to be a great mathematics student. Cody has a keen natural sense of mathematics and the focus and determination to succeed. When the statistics material seemed vague Cody James did not hesitate to seek clarification to ensure thorough understanding. This doggedness demonstrates the formula for excellence. I once asked Cody to what he attributed his success, he answered, “I’m stubborn.” Such work ethic is highly prized in any academic discipline. Any organization would be fortunate to have Cody James in their midst. -Mr. Lear Megan has been my stand-out student all year in a very large Algebra 2 class. She has an excellent work ethic and is always willing to help others. She comes to class prepared and with positive attitude every day. Megan’s grades are consistently in the A+ range, and she will go out of her way to get the extra help needed outside of class to maintain her impressive average. One thing that has set her apart from other high-achieving students this year is her desire to learn skills beyond her current level. She not only has an interest in more challenging math, but she wants to be well prepared for the next level. It has been a pleasure to have had Megan as a student this year, and I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors. -Mrs. Walkins Emily Jaster Emily is a student that thrives on a challenge. She loves to learn a new concept and explore the possibilities. She will always be thinking ahead and ask questions that are deeper than the surface. There are not many things she backs down from and strives to be the best at everything she takes on. She has a bright future and will be very successful in anything she puts her mind to do. -Mr. Long |
