CONGRATULATIONS TO:

V Boys Soccer Team for defeating Heritage last night 2-1.  Goals were scored by Zach Mathewson and Parker Conrath.  Assists were from Jack Eblen and Yab Hayba.

The Debate Team members Davis Leitner, Minh Tam Tran Le, and Joe Ghiorzi for qualifying to compete at the VSHL state tournament on April 26th and 27th.  All debate team members are invited to attend our after-school movie and popcorn event this Thursday in room #L514

The Track Team:  The boys team finished 6th out of 17 and the girls finished 2nd missing 1st by 1 point.  Highlights included 1st place relay teams for boys & girls 4 x 400 and 4 x 800.  Top performances included state qualifiers, Josh Siegel in the 800 and Josh Cromwell in the 3200.  Aiden Pettit also had a solid outing with a 3rd in the 800.  On the girls side Courtney Morgan, Alizah Robinson, Alivia McAttee, Jessica Tierney, Emma Gillies, Corey Brown and Jess Hornyak all had solid outings.

WHS SCA for an excellent showing this weekend as they traveled to the state achievement award meeting.  They placed 3rd in the competition for best project board.  Also a huge congrats to 10th grader Ryan Thomas as he won his election this weekend and will now act as SCA Region 4 Rep.
 
Sophomore, Jordan Bartel on an outstanding performance with the all-state orchestra this past weekend at VA Tech.  Jordan was ranked 14th violin in the state, which is a huge honor!

Girls Tennis began the season with a 6-3 win over DHS.  The girls had strong performances by all players.  They will be traveling to HHS for their 2nd game today.
 
Congratulations to the WHS Jazz band for their participation in the VBODA District 16 Jazz Band assessment this past weekend.  Our WJB received a superior rating for their performance which is the highest rating given at an event.  We would like to congratulate Luck Vacca and Hannah Chambliss for being picked as outstanding soloist.  Luke on trombone & Hannah on trumpet.
 
Congrats to the WHS guitar ensemble.  They received an "A" rating at the LCPS 2014 guitar ensemble festival held Saturday @ PVHS.  In addition to the competition students were coached by members of the Canadian Guitar Quartet and attended workshops on guitar construction, jazz guitar & the Brazilian guitar.

Drama Today's "How to Succeed" rehearsal will cover Act II scenes 7-10.  All those involved should plan to attend.
 
All model U.N. Members who are planning on attending the conference at Valley on Saturday the 29th, please come to Mr. Dunn's room for a meeting during open lunch.

CONGRATS to the WHS Odyssey of the Mind problem 3 team has a 1st place trophy to add to the front hallways case. After a neck and neck with Tuscarora they pulled ahead!  The team members are all 9th graders, David Zhang, Molly Warndorf, Patrick Ramsey, Alexis Zimmer-Chu, Ben Taylor, Joe Warndorf and James Cromwell.  The team will be competing at Sates in Rocky Mount, VA on April 26th.
 
Drama:  Todays "How to Succeed" rehearsal will cover Act II scenes 3 & 4 from 4-5.  The choreography rehearsal will cover A Secretary Is Not A Toy from 5-7.

Congratulations to the members of the debate team who won 1st & 3rd  places in the VSHL Northern Conference Tournament on March 14th.  Elijah Lewis & Nick Santos won policy 1st place.  Davis Leister & Minh Tam Tran Le won Policy 2nd place.  Joe Ghiorzi won 1st place in Lincoln Douglas.  All will now compete at regionals in April.
 
Congrats to the 29 members of the WHS intermediate orchestra for their inspiring performance Saturday at the LCPS District 16 Assessment.  Outstanding solos were performed by; Allison Marrs on violin, Josef Zimmerman on cello and Julie Friedl on harp which received special notice by the 3 judges.  Also receiving special accolades was the duet between the violas and violin II sections.
 
Congrats to WHS advanced orchestra for earning the highest possible rating, a superior, at district assessment on Saturday!  Also to the treble ensemble for earning a superior rating, and to the men's choir for receiving an excellent rating.  Mrs. Morgan will find out scores for the chamber choir and womens choir later today.  Outstanding performances by everyone!!

 SCA would like to thank everyone who made the Dodgeball Tournament possible last Friday.  The $1600 raised will go to SCA's charity this year, Every Child Fed.
 
 The HS History Bowl Teams traveled to Monticello HS in Charlottesville for the State tournament on Saturday.  The Varsity Team placed 3rd out of 14 teams.  That team consisted of, Joe Compasso,Stephen Sholl, Ammon Harteis, Matt Heim, and Logan Czarnecki.  The JV team ended the day as Virginia State Runner-Up.  The team was Saajid Hasan, Ian Faletti, Jon Hess, and Ken Dunn.  Congratulations on another championship day in academic competition!!

A congratulations goes out to 2 Wolverine wrestlers who earned all-state honors this weekend,  Dylan Shockey and Jake David both advanced to the state semi-finals before suffering defeats.  Dylan finished the tournament in 5th place while Jake won the rest of his matches to finish 3rd.  The 2 became the 4th & 5th all-state wrestlers for WHS!

The Wolverines ended their season with a 20-4 record.  This is their 3rd straight season with 20+ wins.

In the history of WHS, we have only ever had 2 people make the highly competitive all-state choir for Loudoun County.  There are only 2 male students that are accepted per voice part and 4 females per voice part.  Congratulations to Darby Clinard, Christine Stewart, Elizabeth Roden, and Jineane Hallaj, and to the alternates, Scott Clark, Sam Van Vleet, and Julia Faber.

Congrats to the Wolverine Wrestling Team for competing hard in the 4A North Regional this weekend.  They placed 5th out of 27 teams.  Six wrestlers were in the top 5, Joe LaRock, Kyle Branch, Gunner Hilling & Tyler Cole all placing 5th and becoming alternate for the state tournament.  Special congrats go to Dylan Shockey & Jake David for qualifying for the state tournament.  Dylan placed 2nd after defeating state ranked wrestlers in the quarter & semifinal round.  Jake David won the 152 pound weigh class to defend his title and become a two time regional champion!
 
Gymnastics:  Congratulations to Sarah Snare & Chelsea Constantine for an outstanding performance at the 5A North Region meet on Sunday.  Both girls had strong performances with Sarah placing in the top 15 on every event.

 Today:s Nine Princesses rehearsal will only include; Sheila, Penelope, Lillian & Lois.  Rehearsal will end at 6pm!
 
 Any student interested in attending Monroe Tech Center come to their annual open house on Feb. 12th from 6:30-8:30pm in Leesburg.   If you are applying to Monroe due to the weather the application deadline has been extended to March 28, 2014.  All "on Time" applications must be received by 3:30pm on the 28th.

Games for Thursday 2/6 are as follows:  Boys and Girls basketball

 

The girls Fresh/JV games at Loudoun Valley will be at 5pm.

The boys Fresh/JV games at Loudoun Valley will be at 6:15pm.

The varsity girls game will be at Loudoun County at 6pm.

The varsity boys game will be at Woodgrove at 6pm.
 
PEER- Meeting today at the beginning of Flex in the band room!
 
Varsity Club Members-Varsity Club will meet tomorrow, Friday, during the AM Activity period.
 
Anyone interested in History Bee/History Bowl, should see Ms. Miner or Ms Spicer this week. 
 
Drama:  This weeks rehearsals will be full cast & crew from 4-7pm.  If you haven't picked up a revised schedule please stop by the Black Box to get one.
 
Serenades will be sold Friday, February 7th through Thursday, February 13th.  Outside the cafeteria $5.00 each. all proceeds will go to this years charity, every child fed.

The next ASVAB test will be administered at Loudoun Valley High School on Saturday, March 1st.  The test is open to all LCPS students grades 10-12.  This is a FREE test used to help young adults identify and explore potentially satisfying occupations and develop effective strategies to realize career goals.  If you are interested in registering please stop by the Career Center for assistance.

Tuesday, February 4th, SCA will be hosting a fundraiser at Taco Bell /KFC from 4-8pm, with your favorite teachers greeting & serving you! DUE TO POSSIBLE WEATHER THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED!!!

Wednesday, February 5th the NVCC Pathways program will have another group meeting in the cafeteria @ 10:15am.  You will receive a pass during 1st block. Please sign up through Naviance or stop by the Career Center for a pass.
