        There is NO dance Team Practice tonight after school!

Reminder to Senior Class Officers, there will be a meeting in #307 today during flex block 4.  See Ms. Hines or Ms. McPhillips for a pass.

 

      FCCLA- Field trip to the State Fair is on as planned for tomorrow.  All attending must be at school at 7:30am and meet in the afoyer.  We will return      by 4:00pm.

       All Boys Varsity Lax players please meet down at the stadium Monday* & Wednesday @ 4-5pm after school.  *This Monday meet at the grass           field next to the practice field.

      It’s Interim time!  Did your grades not turn out quite as well as you wanted?  Sign up to get help from a Peer Tutor in the Library during flex periods.  Tutoring will begin Monday 10/20 during Flex.  Requests for a Peer Tutor are available in the School Counseling Office. 

     Behind the Wheel- Juniors who need behind the wheel, sign up now in Guidance while there is no wait.  10th graders can begin sign-ups when you complete module 5 and have an A-B average in the classroom. 

     Theatre- Anyone still interested in traveling with the Theatre Dept. to England should see Mr. Noland.  The trip is beginning to fill up and there will be a price increase soon.  This is a 9 day tour that covers some of Britain’s best spots!

KUDDOS TO:  

The WHS Golf Team competed in the Conf. 21 Championship yesterday at Algonkian Regional Golf Course.  The team had a strong showing with Jack Klimek leading the way with a 76 and Joey Eastman shooting a 79.  The team total was 326.  Jack Klimek will continue to represent the Golf team at the 4A North Region Championship, which will be held at Ivy Hills Country Club in Lynchburg, VA on Tuesday October 7th.   

Congratulations to the following orchestra students who recently competed in the prestigious Regional Orchestra Auditions; placing in the highly competitive violin division for senior regionals are:  Jordan Bartel & Amelia Bailey in the Viola Div., freshman, Somerset Peede.  WHS Orchestra also earned 2 placements in the Junior Regional Orchestra-freshman, Brooke Rittner on Bass and Natalie Estep on violin. 

Football- JV FB team improved their record to 4-1 with 42-6 win over HHS last night!

  • Spanish Honors Society will NOT be meeting today. They will meet in the near future either before or after school, or during open lunch. Please continue to listen to announcements for further information.

 The Varsity Cheerleading Team for their first place win @ the LVHS invitational this weekend!

 Marching Band- won the championship for their class this past Saturday at the Virginia Northern Regional Band Championships in Herndon. Best Music, Best Visual; Best Overall Effect, Best Percussion & Best Color Guard. They also received the highest score overall from all classes 1a-4a.

SCA-   The class Spirit Packs and T-Shirts are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow morning during HR. Thank you for your support!  

Tomorrow afternoon is our Fall Pep Rally. Everyone is encouraged to wear your class color. Check out the page on the SCA website for details about the class competition.

Finally we are pleased to announce that at last Friday’s General Assembly Meeting, Habitat for Humanity was selected as sour school charity of the year. Be looking for opportunities to become involved in this worthwhile charity.

The WHS Golf Team on their most recent match on August 27th.  They defeated both PFHS and PVHS by 13 strokes in a 9 hole tournament.  Low scorers for WHS included, Jack Klimack with a 36, and Michael Briel with a 39.
 
The Varsity VB Team won over Washington HS last night.Leading the Wolverines was Samatha Purnell with 12 points and 10 kills.  Jineane Hallaj added 5 points and 3 aces along with 6 kills.  Outstanding defense by Jessica Hornyak, Angela Yost, Dorothy Dimitreau and Lexi Waldman.  Great Job Team!
The JV VB Team defeated Washington in 2 sets- 25-15 and 25-12.  Outstanding play by Emily Haak, Carolyn Cain, Ashton Marquart and Katelyn Hornyak.
