The ELL Program at Farmwell Station Middle School serves 116 students from all over the world. Our students currently represent 21 languages and even greater number of dialects and cultures: Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Urdu, Korean, Farsi, Punjabi, French, Afghan, Turkish, Kurdish, Bengali, Hindi, Fante, Tagalog, Italian, Amharic, Twi, Telugu, Lao, Finish, Dari, German, Kannada, Tamil, Polish, and Haitian/Creole.
The goal of the program is to provide ELL students with instruction in the English language by emphasizing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through the use of a structured English language approach. The program is organized to provide ELL students with a blend of specialized instructional strategies which will allow them to participate in activities with fluent English language speakers.
The ELL courses are designed for students to become proficient in the English language while developing and improving their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
