Shannon Cornell
Hello and welcome to another great year at Steuart W. Weller Elementary School.  My name is Shannon Cornell and I have been one of the ELL teachers since the school opened in 2008.  I am very excited to be teaching First and Fifth Grade during the 2016-2017 school year.
A little about me:  I grew up in a rural town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Because of my childhood, I have a passion for the outdoors.  I love to bike, hike, camp, and just relax by a lake.  I also love to take photos.  I can't leave home without my camera.  I am married and have 2 sons (a Senior and an 8th grader).  They both attended Steuart Weller which has made this school like a home for me.
After graduating high school, I attended Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education with a specialization in mathematics. In addition, I earned my endorsement in English as a Second Language through George Mason University.  Recently, I enrolled in American College of Education and attained a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year.  I am sure it will be a great one!

I am excited to be a member of Steuart Weller Elementary School.  I graduated from Taipei Teacher’s College in Taiwan with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  This will be my ninth year at Steuart Weller and 15th year working as an ELL teacher.  At my leisure time, I like to cook and spend time with my two daughters.

Katy Curling
Mrs. Curling is excited to be back at Steuart Weller in the ELL Department for the 2016-2017 school year! Mrs. Curling earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  Mrs. Curling began her teaching career back in 2000 but took a few years off to be at home with her young children.  Now that they are school age, Mrs. Curling is thrilled to be back in the classroom as a resource to students who are learning English as a foreign language.  Mrs. Curling will work with her students to do their very best.  She is looking forward to a wonderful and successful school year!

Sonja Babcock
I am looking forward to teaching ELL students at Steuart W. Weller.  This will be my 14th year of teaching in Loudoun County.  I started teaching ELL students at Forest Grove in the fall of 2003.  I have been teaching second grade for the past three years at Moorefield Station.  I have also taught fourth grade in California and in Virginia.  I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Elementary Education from Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego, California.  I also have a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction for ESOL from George Mason University.
I was born and raised in California.  I met my husband in collage.  We moved to Virginia in the summer of 1999 with our two now grown children.  The oldest is a son and the younger one, a daughter.  She is now married and has two children, a boy and a girl.  All of us live in Leesburg.
In my free time, my husband and I enjoy being together at home (with our three cats) or on the road.  I also like to read, cook, and spend time with my family, especially our grandchildren.
