Year fourteen comes to a close...how amazing is that? My heartfelt thanks go out to each of you. So many of you have supported our efforts all year long in so many ways. Know that our success hinges on your support. Ours is truly an outstanding school community and I feel fortunate to be a part of all that is Potomac Falls.
June is full of end of year activities designed to bring closure to another incredible year of the Panthers. Keep a close eye on our website so that you don’t miss any of the fun! Final report cards will be mailed home on June 22. Along with your child’s report card you will receive a final copy of your child’s course request for the 2011-12 school year. Any requests for changes should be directed to your child’s guidance counselor. All requests for changes must be made by June 30. Due to staffing constraints we are not able to make changes in electives at this time.
A big congratulations to staff and students on the successful completion of all SOL tests. Our online testing was a success and our preliminary results show that we have achieved well over 90% pass rate in all areas.
A reminder that the final exam schedule is posted on our website for your review. Exams are given the last four days of school. Absences during this time frame are strongly discouraged. Missed exams will have to be made up by June 20 or in August when teachers return.
Thanks to each of you who took the time to complete our school survey . Preliminary results show that our community has an overall positive sense of what we do each day at Potomac Falls. Areas of growth are being identified at the time of this publication going to print. Specific feedback will be shared online via our website over the summer. All information shared will be used as we plan our School Improvement Plan for the 2011-12 school year.
Please also note that our website will continue to contain the most updated information about what is going on all summer long at PFHS. Dates for fall orientations, etc are already posted. Our 9th Grade Parent/New Parent Information night will be held on August 24 from 6:00-8pm. The rising 9th grade Zero Day orientation is scheduled for August 25 from 9:00am to 1pm. Back to School Night will be held on September 12 at 6:30pm (overflow parking at RBMS).
Office hours this summer are 8:30-3:30. Please do not hesitate to stop by if we can be of any support to you.

"And then some...
These three little words are the secret to success.
They are the difference between average people and top
people in most schools..
The top people always do what is expected...
and then some.
They are thoughtful of others; they are considerate
and kind...and then some.
They meet their responsibilities fairly and squarely...
and then some.
They are good friends and helpful neighbors...
and then some.
They can be counted on in an emergency...
and then some.
I am thankful for people like this, for they make
the world a better place. Their spirit of service is
summed up in these three little words...
And then some." - Anonymous
Some of you may recall that I shared this sentiment last June. I received so many positive comments in return that I thought I’d share it again as a reminder of how important your role is in the daily lives of our students. Thank you for being the “and then some” in so many ways. I hope for each of you that your summer time together is full of relaxation and reflection. Know that we are only a phone call or a visit away.
Sincerely,
Mrs. K.
