Mr. Shannon started his teaching career in 1995 in Howard County, Maryland, where he worked for six years. While working for Howard County Public Schools, he taught kindergarten, first and second grades. In 2001, Mr. Shannon moved to Montgomery County (Maryland) and spent 4 years teaching second and third grades as well as spending one year as a reading support teacher. During his year as a reading support teacher, Mr. Shannon taught first, fourth and fifth grade language arts.
Mr. Shannon taught at Round Hill Elementary from 2005 to 2014, where he taught second grade for six years and fourth grade for three years!. During summer break, Mr. Shannon taught computer applications courses to elementary school students for a program called "Kids On Campus" at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. He worked for the program every summer from 2001 to 2008. During the summer of 2009, he taught the same classes at the "Kids On Campus" program at Frederick Community College.
During his free time, Mr. Shannon enjoys playing ice hockey and coaching his son's U-10 hockey team for the Frederick Jr. Freeze. He is a certified Level 4 coach with USA Hockey. Mr. Shannon is also a player in the Frederick Men's Hockey League as well as the Hagerstown Recreational Hockey League. In addition to enjoying watching his son play hockey, he enjoys watching his daughter dance and play the piano!
