My name is Ann Schmidt, and I am very happy to be here at Little River. This is my twenty-second year in third grade. I also taught second grade for a year in Atlanta, Georgia. I spent three years in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada teaching everything from junior kindergarten through sixth grade. I am originally from Birmingham, AL. I have my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi University for Women and my Masters degree in Initiatives in Educational Transformation (IET) from George Mason University. I am certified to teach children in grades K-8. I was nominated for the Washington Post-Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher and LCPS Teacher of the Year Award in 2013.
My husband and I live in South Riding. We have two great kids. Our daughter is a teacher at Liberty Elementary and our son is a senior at Freedom High School. We also have two mischievous cats named Georgie and Jack. I love to teach and make connections between the content areas. It is my goal to make learning exciting and fun. I look forward to meeting all of you. Working together we can make this a fantastic year for your child.
