Ann Schmidt has been teaching third grade for twenty-two years. The last twelve years have been with Loudoun County Public Schools. She spent ten years teaching third grade in Stafford County Virginia. She also taught second grade for a year in Atlanta, Georgia and three years in Ottawa, Canada teaching JK-Gr. 6. She is originally from Birmingham, Alabama. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi University for Women and a Master of Arts degree in New Professional Studies:Teaching from George Mason University. She is certified to teach all subjects from NK-Grade 8. Mrs. Schmidt was nominated for the Washington Post Agnes-Meyer Outstanding Teacher and LCPS Teacher of the Year Award in 2013.
Mrs. Schmidt and her husband live in South Riding. They have two children and two cats. Their daughter is a teacher at Liberty Elementary and their son is studying Biology at James Madison University. Mrs. Schmidt loves to read, hike, go antiquing, and learn new things. She enjoys teaching using real world connections and incorporating S.T.E.M. lessons into her curriculum. It is her goal to make learning exciting and fun. She looks forward to meeting all of you and working together to make this a fantastic year for your child.
