ENERGY STAR
ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy.  The program helps organizations and corporations save money and protect the environment through the use of energy efficient products and practices.
In 1992 the EPA introduced ENERGY STAR as a voluntary labeling program designed to identify and promote energy-efficient products to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  Numerous Loudoun County Public Schools buildings have been awarded an ENERGY STAR label. The ENERGY STAR is the national and official symbol of recognition of energy efficiency, and it distinguishes LCPS for its accomplishments in Energy Management and the achievement of a rating for superior energy and environmental performance at those sites.
