SOL test: Blocks 3/5 & 48--May 8
                      Block 1/7-May 9

Reading takes you places…”  This quote explains why I love teaching reading so much.  My students and I can travel to far-away places, even imaginary places, through the literature we read together.  Reading is, and always has been, one of joys in my life, and being able to share this joy with children is a very special privilege.  I expanded my knowledge of the teaching of reading by obtaining a master’s degree and reading specialist certification from Shenandoah University.  Afterwards, I earned a Certificate of Technology Integration from George Mason University.  I continue to take classes and workshops in order to update methodology and teaching techniques.

Surprising to some, I enjoy teaching today even more than I did when I began teaching at Blue Ridge many years ago.  Each year brings new faces and new challenges, therefore, teaching is never boring.

Parents, please feel free to contact me with any concerns you have about your children.
